Hand operation of floating ball valves:The top of valve stem is machined into a"Double D"configuration that aligns with the flow path of the ball and the handle direction,thus it is easy to determine whether the valve is in the"ON" or"OFF"position.when the handle or stem"Double D"is parallel with the pipe axis,the valve is in the "ON"position;when handle or stem"Double D"is perpendicular to the pipe axis,the valve is in the"OFF"position.
Valve locking device:Every valve is fitted with an intergral locking device that allows the valve to be locked in the full opened or closed positions.this prevents any accidental or unauthorized operation of the valve.the locking device has been designed with safety and ease of use in mind.
Anti-blowout structure of valve stem:Pressure in the valve body naturally forces the stem upward.if not properly designed,the stem under pressure could possibly fly out causing injuries to human beings.To prevent this possibility,a blowout proof shoulder has been machined at the lower part of the stem to prevent upward movement.in this way,if the packing retainer is removed under pressure,the stem is held in place.in case of a fire,if the stem thrust bearing is burned away,the stem will move upward allowing the blowout proof shoulder to contact the body preventing medium leaking out from the packing area.Antistatic device:The ball is floating between two Teflon seats that can create an insulating effect.certain services can produce electrostatic charges within the valve that can be accumulated on the ball,stem and/or body that could possibly cause an explosion,an antistatic spring device is placed between the stem,ball and body to ground them all together preventing any unwanted discharge of electricity.
Firesafe design:In case of fire,the nonmetal packing or seat(non-fireproof material) can be burned away allowing excess leakage that may possibly intensify the fire either external of the valve or downstream.the firesafe design structure prevents the leakage from occurring.As shown in the figure,once the seat is burned away,the ball will directly contact the metal face on valve body preventing medium leaking thru the valve.the design of firesafe and antistatic structure shall confirm to the requirments of JB/T6899 and the second part of BS 6755.
